This rootbeer disappeared off the shelves of our Waitrose for a worrying few months around Christmas, but I was obviously not alone in missing it, as it’s again available in either single bottles or as a 4 pack.

It’s an Australian drink that claims it’s made to a ‘genuine old recipe’. The first few times I tried it, I was unconvinced – it felt like it was trying too hard and the vanilla taste that I was expecting wasn’t quite there. As I’ve got used to it, I find I’m enjoying it a lot more. It’s a bit more distinctive than the mass-market American brews, but it’s still got the rootbeer tang that is lacking in the James Edwards beer that I previously reviewed.

I think it’s about £3.99 for a pack of 4, and, assuming its on sale at most branches of Waitrose, I’d wager that this is the rootbeer most widely available in the UK. That being the case, it’s a relief that it’s a good one.
